Senior portrait Collections Prices
The senior experience....
Senior portraits are one of the first things that you want to cross off your to-do list.
Most schools have you take your senior portraits during the summer before your senior
year so they can get a head start on your yearbook.
Most schools in Polk county have a contract photographer and they tell you that you
have to have your senior portraits done there. as this is school policy. Well, this is true
you do have to have your YEARBOOK photo done there, but keep in mind that you
DO NOT have to buy the extra photos that they offer. You can go to any photographer
to have your senior portraits done your way. If you are happy with the photos from
the contract photographer that’s great, if not just say “NO THANKS” and find a
photographer that will do them your way.
Scheduling an appointment ....
It is best to schedule an appointment early and keep your appointment.
The contract photographer photographs around 2000 seniors between July and September
that is why it is important to keep your appointment as you may not be able to get another
one and that might be your only opportunity before they are due for the yearbook.
Your senior portrait session should be a fun experience, but potentially an expensive
experience. In addition to the yearbook you will have the opportunity to purchase
additional photos for your friends and family.
Here is a few ideas to help you keep your budget....
1. Make a list of those that you want to give copies to, normally you would give a
wallet size (2x3) to fellow classmates and enlargements to family members.
2. Discourage senior from giving several poses to the same person. This will help
keep the cost down.
3. If including a copy in your graduation announcement order them with your
package as they will be more expensive to order later..
Ask about keeping proofs and be sure to understand the copyright laws that restrict
you from reproducing professionally taken portraits your self, the right to reproduce
is the property of the photographer. If you want to reproduce them in any fashion
you must have a copyright release. Ask the photographer about this before you hire them.
